Teaching of Lord Mahavira (Softcover)

by Ganesh Lalwani

The Teachings of Lord Mahavira selected from four Agamas (1) Dasavealiyam (Dasa.), (2) Uttarjjhayanani (Uttar.), (3) Suya Gado (Sutra - Krit.) and (4) Ayaro Taha Ayar - Cula (Acha.) and translated in English by late Ganesh Lalwani, M.A. were first published in 1953 in the issues of Jain Bharati, a weekly journal published by Jain Svetambar Terapanthi Mahasabha, Calcutta when the undersigned happened to be its editor. This book is a compilation of the same. Humble, soft spoken, mild mannered and religious by nature Sri Lalwani was a bachelor and lived an exemplary simple and pious life. Not only was he an exponent of Jain principles but these principles were also embodied in his life style. An erudite scholar and a man of great artistic sense, he had profound knowledge of English, Bengali and Hindi languages. Dedicated to his work as an editor of Jain Journal quarterly magazine (English), Sraman monthly magazine (Bengali) and Tithyar monthly magazine (Hindi) he was fully engrossed, with it and never cherished any materialistic ambition. Sri Lalwani is no more with us, he left for his heavenly abode a few years back'. But his service to the cause of Jainism, this book, included, will ever be remembered with reverence.
